"More Than Meets the Eye" Artist signed Giclee fine art prints of original mixed media painting on birch panel.
This one began with a clear medium and high flow paints. I painted directly on the birch panel so the earthy tones in the trees are actually the birch wood showing through the layers. The roots showed up first and then I painted out the sky creating the trees out of the negative space. The "trees" in the distance were part of the original first layer and were what made me think of a landscape. I gave the roots and the darkness over half the room of the painting. I like the idea that there is so much more to us than what meets the eye. Each one of us have our own histories and experiences but we don't live through anything alone, all of our actions and lives woven together with others, whether we're aware of how we affect one another or not.
