"I Had This Crazy Dream" 12x12 mixed media on birch panel.
Pretty much 100% of the time I don't know what's going to show up when I begin to paint, I just start. I love to paint late into the night, I am always working on many pieces at once, rotating them through. I feel like I think less and follow intuition more when I can move from piece to piece. They usually have many layers already and I'm either adding or subtracting from them, waiting for them to show me what they want to be. This one came together on one late night after having been painted over and set aside many times over the past several months. Just like when you can't figure something out for the longest time, and then pow! Just like that, you have the answer!
